About

"Critical Exposure" is a first-person urbex survival-horror game developed by the development team "Occult Optics" in Unreal Engine 5. 

The story - set in the early 1990's - follows Nathan, an aspiring journalist photography student, who is invited out by his friends to explore and photograph the abandoned nuclear facility located within the government-cordoned Section 13.

Your aim is to explore the facility, taking photos of interesting finds along the way, while looking for ways to access deeper levels of the facility in order to find and meet up with your friends. All while avoiding threats and hazards you might not quite expect to find within these abandoned dwellings...

Development Roadmap

The demo has now entered a point of development where we are essentially feature-complete and almost asset-complete bar any final art passes and some general bug-fixing/polish, and are ready to get full playtests done. Please take a look at our latest builds labelled as "beta" and leave your feedback and thoughts on your experience in the comments.

We aim to have the demo in a finalized state with complete gameplay, assets and art passes in time for Falmouth University's Games Academy Expo 2024.

A full version of the game is in planning for the future, however no details are set in stone.
